I have been playing electric guitar for over 30 years. I have barely put the guitar down since I first fell in love in with it as a teenager.
I do not play 'all styles' of guitar. I have found my own distinctive style, sounds and tone. I have created original music and have enjoyed playing and interpreting the music of others. I am not a fan of any one particular style. Rather, I love a good artist or composer. I love a strong track. A great song transcends its style. If the music is original and makes me feel something, I can play and add to it.
I can create guitar parts for most pieces of music and I play with a variety of approaches. I always sound like me. I can fade back, playing low key, minimalist or ambient parts and I can play right out front.
I have played in many genres and contexts including music for television and film, four piece bands, supporting singer/songwriters, and instrumental music. I have played on electronica, dance, hard rock, reggae, folk, soul, and world music tracks - always because I felt a connection with the music.
(I am also a classically trained violinist, having completed grade 8 by the age of 14. The grounding in a classical instrument has stood me in good stead, but the attraction to the guitar was overpowering and once I switched over in 1985, I never looked back.)
I do the following things:
- play in session at your studio
- play live as your session player
- create and record parts at my studio to suit music you send me by file sharing or on disc
- create completely original music to fulfil a brief
I have a good ear and I listen carefully. I learn very quickly without sheet music. I am dead serious about the music but I am easy going, professional and, I hope, fun to work with. In a live or studio environment, you will find me balanced, reliable and well prepared. I love music, I love my instrument and I always strive to produce something honest and beautiful that will stand the test of time.
